yes, all the strawberries went off the shelves - just so much fun for the strawberry farmers.  

and then as the story unfolded, she was caught, and there was no reason for her actions - no grudge with either supermarket/s, farmer/s or the fruit itself.  It was just for her personal malicious pleasure pure and simple.

Schadenfreude.  I just been thinking about it, this idea that people laugh at other's misfortune, the man slips on the banana peel and the onlookers laugh.  tbh, in reality if I saw someone slip on a banana peel my response is more likely to be sympathetic distress than laughing.  but yes my ex would be having a good old titter behind his handkerchief.
