If as you say your husband has already made the decision to separate, then it seems to me that your best course of action at this time is to go to a lawyer and see what your rights are under the law.  

As Rob as already offered one nuggest of Chump Lady's wisdom, I'll add another.   When he says he wants to "figure out what he wants" he really means he wants you to hang around while he "decides" (code for fucks around with men) what he wants.  You are not Plan B, or a consolation prize, and he is an entitled ass.
