I will admit my immediate thought is that the girlfriend is GID - that does often turn out to be the case where disparaging remarks are being made.

Just remember, self-care, self-care, self-care. Enjoy the day off and don't get pressed into putting yourself in gatherings you don't want to attend.
I envy Canadians because your Thanksgiving seems to be in the harvest season and the trees by ours are bare and it's inhospitable outside. I think that's why Halloween has become a big deal for adults in the US..
Try Gardening. It'll keep you grounded.
