I’m new to the term “demisexual,” but this label probably most accurately describes BOTH my husband and myself. It makes sense why my husband says he's only been attracted to two men his entire adult life, one 30+ years ago and a married friend we've known for 20+ years. We're probably both pretty extreme on the demisexual spectrum.

"Not experiencing any sexual attraction to another until a greater bond is formed."

To go even further I would consider myself a straight cisgender female, demisexual, demiromatic. My husband would consider himself a bi/heterflexable cisgender male, demisexual, heteromatic.

Geez it gets confusing with all the possible descriptive terminology.

I threw out most all the labels I used to attach people to....

....and used experience and how those people reacted to me, unlabeled, as a measure of how much influence they had in my life

Elle,

I’m not big on labels either, but I knew I was not like others that felt, for example, sexual attraction to someone they saw across a crowded room, not to sound too cliche. I never labeled my husband for all our years together although I knew he wasn’t quite straight. It wasn’t my place to do so. Many people have stated here on SSN to pay attention to a persons actions rather than their words and I completely agree with that. At the end of the day the labels don’t matter as long as you’re being treated how you expect to and deserve to be treated.
