He said he wants to stay married to me.

I have written this post three times. There is so much to say that I am not sure where to start. I believe that my husband loves me. I believe that he would do anything for me and our children. He is telling me that he wants to stay married. I am trying hard to move past the betrayal of finding out that he had sex with men and had admitted to me that he is attracted to men. He has not labeled himself as gay or bisexual. I still have concerns about whether he is still seeking sex with men. He does not want to talk about sexual things that he likes with men with his wife (me). We have been married for 21 years now. He has been supportive for the most part with this situation. If there were a picture of the perfect husband, it would be him. Is it possible for a curious man to still want to be married to a woman?

Re: He said he wants to stay married to me.

The million dollar question I have as well... See my first post in General. (Only cause it's long winded) I was told by a friend from church that after I told him everything he says to me that he believes that in marriage, nothing is off limits providing it is consensual, not abuse, and does not humiliate or break the marriage covenant. Which is how I am going to view it and where the Bible is silent on a matter between husband and wife I'm going to assume that it is for personal discernment, (ie> I'm talking more about pegging and anal in this). He has expressed that he has kinks and desires that I can't allow. (3some) he knows it's off the table completely. But I feel like he is chasing a life experience. And in my mind... Once you done one bum, why should you need to explore a man who has a bum like anyone else.
The problem I'm going to raise with him is that when these acts are preformed on anyone regardless of gender outside the marriage..... you don't know what disease you could get. That is just potentially destructive and reckless. People can lie just to get what they want. And if he finds that I am being uncaring about his health and safety then he is disconnected. Even if we were just friends (kind of how I feel now anyway with him) I would do what I can to protect him in our marriage from those fates. If it means offering him intimate experiences with his wife which are no different than anyone else he could be with. so be it. And this is the problem I face with him ....his identity shift has also bought out a real ugly side to him. A confused ugly side. A side of him that also gaslights and lies. Leading me on for how many months where I fell into a false sense of security. Where I was blindsided but his admission. Where I was made to feel like a used piece of paper crumpled up and cast away. He damaged me. Yes I came out with some hurtful words. Yes I was fearful and confused over my future of uncertainty. But this is my lived experience and he doesn't get to down play more feelings over the last 10 months or so. All he did to me was lie to me over the loss of the wedding bad he wore. He never confided in me in a calm manor. Everything he did and said had me worried for his spiritual and mental welfare. Yes I questioned some music he was listening to because I found it out of character. I was under the impression that worldly music wasn't his thing.... but I had lost him spiritually. And I didn't even know it. I was angry, blinded and fearful and fretful. What i feel are completely normal reactions ....and what scares me most. Going into counselling today and having to relive all my past year in full and having to bring that stuff forward in the safe space onto the table. I am wearing clothing that is old and I can take off right away to strip the physically layer along with the emotional layer and leave it there in the therapy space.

So to answer your question ....I believe so yes. However, it depends on his level of personal commitment. Is he committed to keeping the marriage alive and happy. Or is he wanting to seek out his desires and bugger the consequences.

Unfortunately, you may not get your answers right away. I have just completed a 7 day fast "Daniels Fast" (even though it's meant to go for 21 days. God knew and I reached clarity on day 7 so I ended my fast, he didn't want me going for the full 21 days lol and for that I am grateful)

In the week I purged a lot of bitterness and anger. I also gained unconditional love and closeness to God. And God showed me that I was invertedly trying to do HIS work. I realised the danger and submitted all to God. It took me a long time to realise this but I believe God knows my mind and doesn't hold it against me. I have asked for my forgiveness and Satan can go take a run and jump. The spiritual war that battled in front of me and I know God won.

Why? Why are you trying to "move past" such a selfish and humiliating act of betrayal and dishonesty?
