Cis spouse of transgender individual - navigating political landscape

Hi all,

I have a wonderful transgender spouse whom I love deeply. Since the election, they have been struggling with their worry and fear. It's both impacting our marriage (the fun times, the intimacy, the cuddling) and their mental health. They are in counseling which helps some.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to help them. The vociferous attacks against transgender by the current regime is overwhelming. Luckily they were able to take advantage of the short window for passport renewals (they had changed their expiring passport to the correct gender but were worried it would be changed back upon renewal) which helped. We have been discussing our lines for when we would leave our red state or the country. Now we worry about losing their health insurance with current political threats. It's all very scary. I can't even imagine being in my spouse's shoes even though I see their worry and fear and how much they have changed from their normal positive, happy self. I am desperate to find ideas on how to help them find some joy in these dark times. I miss the happy person I married.

Thanks for reading.
