....when both spouses are religious.

Going back to previous discussions (to better understand the views of another member) I saw this comment and, because my life is not faith-based, I wondered how true this is and how much religion played a part in the staying or leaving of the r'ships here.

"Successful "mixed orientation" marriages are easier when both spouses are religious".
Really? Why?

I realise I've brought the topic many of us would rather not talk about...into the open, but if it was on the mixed orientation board many of you might not go there to comment.

Re: ....when both spouses are religious.

The Dutchman and Samantha come to mind - I always felt their advice should come with a disclaimer - these people are highly invested in a very evangelical church.  But I think there's also just the basic premise of all religious groups, that your happiness is in the hands of God rather than your spouse.

My ex used to say don't look to me to make you happy, that's between you and god.  And I would agree with him.  Sad isn't it.  What a side step.  If I could go back in time I would reply well why don't you do your part in my happiness and give me a kiss.

Re: ....when both spouses are religious.

Yes Lily I thought of them too. There's probably a statistic about it (religion, lgb and straight break-ups)

Also....those times when the moment has passed...and you think of your reply hours later....lol
