...to a banner saying ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT WILDFIRES and a website smokeybear.com.
I've seen on our news that Canada is burning something bad. New Zealand has even sent 2 contingents of firefighters over there to help.
This is the first time I've seen advertising on this site. It's not really advertising I realise but I'm not sure what to call it. A slippery slope?

Interesting, I did not get this. Might be something in your browser settings that allowed it. I always run with adblockers and other related stuff in my settings. That being said, I have no issue with one charity supporting other charities or imparting important public announcements. I doubt advertising is on the table if Our Path wants to keep it's 501(c)3 non-profit status and it's public face as a support organization.
It is also possible that your ISP injected this into your browser. That ability has been around for a long time, typically used when people have monthly data caps and they are about to hit them.
But the situation is the worst I can ever remember. Check out pics of NYC. They are hundreds of kilometers away. Where I am smells like a campfire outside, and my car has a light yellowish dust coating. The sun has been barely seen this week. I know people who had to evacuate their home because the fire might have spread that way, fortunately, it did not.
We need several consecutive days of solid rain.

Had another one pop up "Find Love Online"...
...for a pet shelter 🤣 at least I hope it was for animals

When I first moved to Boardhost, I accepted the ad option because it was much cheaper. For a long time, there were no ads. I got a bit nervous about that because I hope Boardhost doesn't go out of business due to lack of revenue. OurPath is not serving those ads. Like Daryl, I use an ad blocker so I haven't seen any ads.
The smoke from the Canadian wildfires is so thick here (hundreds of miles away) it's forcing people indoors. People are breaking out their Covid masks outdoors it irritates the eyes and throat and smells like a campfire. Most of the fires are so remote there are no roads so no way to fight them easily.

Sam, thanks for the clarification. Pop-up blockers for the win!
