The Rejected (1961) First US Television Documentary About Gays

I've watched this five times, and I find it healing.

It's a balanced presentation weighing all sides of gays in society via law, health, religion and culture.  Though laws and court decisions have brought some acceptance for the gay community, this 60 year old documentary expresses a lot of the same social uncertainties we face today.

Anthropologist Margaret Mead speaks from 3:56 - 10:17 about the rejection and acceptance of gays and transvestites in different societies through history.

No - It's not too late. It's not hopeless. Even there, there's something I can do. I just have to find the will. Ikiru (1952), film directed by Akira Kurosawa
