Below is a link to an article I read last week. Was wondering what other people's thoughts were on it? Thank you.

fascinating. I must admit I do not understand the use of 'they' - the person isn't pluralised, still got one body. why not roll with it, use both pronouns as they come. why a they? why not me - it's one life!
and then from the other side - why is being male or female now a stereotype? It's like being disbelieved that you are straight.

I don't want to be dismissive of people's attempts to change the world for the better. Yes. There are many problematic issues surrounding gender roles and the way society forces them on us.
However, when I encounter those who are trying to change the world in such a way which seems designed to shame other people into a kind of forced compliance, it seems just as problematic to me. I think the author is falling into this latter camp.
Some open minded education for all seems preferable to me. In my opinion, this article would work better if it tried harder to demonstrate WHY some of these unconventional choices were made rather than simply throwing that burden on the reader.
Zoomer sounds like a happy kid here, and that is most important. Of course, that is the author's perspective and not Zoomer's. It is my hope that Zoomer does not feel pressures later in life for being raised in such a non-traditional way.
