Still Saturday here.... glad you could finally do it. I found that the uncertainty leading up to that step was far worse than the reality that came after. Good luck.

Forgive me, this could be a cynical view, and I could be wrong. Depending on your jurisdiction, in most places it is possible to get a cheap and quick divorce if you can agree to terms without lawyers. I hate to say, but lawyers love bitter contested divorces because they make a ton of money. I suspect your lawyer is hoping for that, but I may be wrong. Look into mediation if that is offered where you live. I went that route and it cost less than $2000 total.

We've been averaging 1-2 new members per day ( along with 10 to 20 spammers I have to get rid of some days). Not all new members post. Spammers are pretty easy to spot, there are a couple websites that can identify them from email or IP address.

I guess this is a structured, decided move to be inclusive but for Bill770 to say "Education is the most powerful weapon.." in a forum of straightspouses who already know the stress of the Mindfuck.... I would say to Bill "it's not the forum that needs the education so why was one of our members censured for speaking her mind in a space that is here for her to speak her mind?"

Elle

The member was censored for spreading misinformation. Another member (straight spouse) objected to this. This Forum is far from all we do. Those who do this to us (or potentially would) are the ones who need education. If those people didn't need to hide in a lie there would be no need for this organization. Now there seems to be tremendous political backlash against them. Someone here is repeating the boogeyman scare words being pushed. This can only serve to drive them back into the closet and guarantee the need for this organization will last a long time.
BTW I strongly disagreed with the ambiguous wording of "partners of Trans" and have made those objections known. We do not support non-straight partners of Trans.

Elle, Lily and all. What part of "nothing's changed" do you not understand?

Unbelievable these people have the entire society feeling sorry for them to the extent that we the Straight Spouse have to grin and bear it and if we don't support our spouse when they come out we are homophobes or Transphobes.     Bullshit!

Obviously you didn't read my post. Or read what you assumed I would say. You may bash your spouse/partner as much as you want. Nobody expects you to "celebrate their coming out". I sure didn't. However GENERALIZED gay bashing unfairly targets some who have nothing to do with what happened to you. As I said that has been the policy of the Straight Spouse Network since it's founding. My late ex married me because she wanted a sperm donor and a breadwinner. No way I have any sympathy for her or anyone else who does that. And that doesn't make me a homophobe.

The Straight Spouse Network and now OurPath has always had a policy against generalized gay-bashing and trans-bashing in our open and private media. You can say whatever you want about your own spouse/partner. Nothing has changed. In this Forum, the issue has almost never come up.

The person who complained was a newbie straight spouse, not a Trans person. I don't know how things are on your side of the world, but trans-bashing is becoming a political tactic here, as gay-bashing was not that long ago. The person whose posts I deleted was not removed from the Forum or banned.

Has anyone here actually had success with dating apps? Is there one you’d recommend?

I met my current (straight) wife on OKCupid. That was 10 years ago. It was free and I suspect I (or she) may have been lucky. However if still active, a good way to test the waters for free.

I think that I read that a group of straight spouses used to go to Florida for a get-together. Must have been at least 10 years ago.

Up till the pandemic there were several yearly gatherings, one in Florida was quite big. Also Chicago, and occasionally other places. Now that things seem to be clearing up, I'm sure some will start again. Best way to find out is to register at Our Path and join one of the FB groups.
