Cross dressing is a sexual addiction. Did you ever ask him when he started doing it? And, if he was sexually aroused by it particularly when he was young? Men who have this problem usually experience shame about it and have a tendency to lie about the sexual arousal component part of it. Addictions are a slippery slope. Need more and more to get the same high. Unfortunately, these guys have less of a chance to find help in controlling or overcoming it in today's society as they are told this behavior means they are trans. You said you think "he threw away all of the womens clothing he bought and took the nail polish off". That's part of the cycle of a cross dressing addiction, they buy and purge.
I'm glad you are taking steps to distance yourself.

Sorry this is happening to you. Nothing like being further traumatized by people who are supposed to be helping. They sound more like trans activists than caring professionals. There is a world of helpful information from the therapists on the podcasts called Gender: A Wider Lens. They discuss many of reasons behind why people think looking like the opposite sex would benefit them and other issues.

Well now you know they're all disgusting, not just your ex. Your life will be so much better without them. Can you move closer to your parents? Being near people who love you is very important in recovering from this hideous abuse. Seriously, it feels really bad right now, but it won't take long for you to realize that they really suck and you don't.

There is no cure for NPD or AGP. Everyone is an object to be used by these guys. It's only a matter of time before the new woman feels it. He's busy love bombing.her right now but that will pass soon enough..
IMO, it's best to leave the whole "trans" BS out of your discussion with your son. Tell him the truth. His Dad is personality disordered which causes him to lack any true sense of himself. He's a false persona every moment of his life. His cross-dressing fetish and AGP are behaviors and fantasies he uses to soothe the anxiety and emotional dysregulation of NPD.
So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom.

What about taking on your maiden name as your official middle name. I was married for 38 years when I divorced and really hated using his name afterwards. But dropping it can cause many complications, as you and Daryl touched on. For some reason when I got married, I took on my maiden as my middle name (not a hyphenated last name) so it's on many of my official documents like my driver license. Being a 3 name person may help you to feel some peace in this area. Good luck to you.

Her "trans" father was interviewed for a bit of it. I'll bet we can all guess why Katy hasn't spoken to him in 10 years, and it has nothing to do with him dressing up as a woman.

Here's a link to the op-ed that walkby and OoHC are referring to. Hopefully you can still access the comments. It stings a bit to read how the betrayer is viewed by society versus the betrayed, but it was the kind of honesty I really needed in those early post discovery years.
